Fluff & Stuff -- Silver City NM

November 6 -- I flew from Salt Lake City to El Paso TX yesterday and was picked up by Consuelo and Jude for the three hour drive to Silver City. There was a potluck dinner at Judy's Attic and then I gave a lecture and trunk show to the members of the Southwest New Mexico Quilters' Guild.

I always thought it would be cool to teach in a classroom the size of a basketball court! There are twenty people in the class, each with their own table, and it still seems almost empty!

Learning to fluff and stuff their quilts through the machine....

Checking progress...

This was a very interesting use of a fabric -- the right side was shiny and somewhat embellished, so she turned it over and used the duller side. Both sides were really pretty....I could see some ways to use both right and wrong sides in the same quilt -- maybe as a pieced background for an applique project? HMMMMMM.....

This lady just moved right in! Her portable table is the same height as the longer table provided in class, so she just set her own table up at a 90 degree angle to the other one and hade a work station all set up!

After class, Jude is taking me to the Silver City Museum to see a display of quilts put on by the members of this guild -- can't wait!!
